how the name came to be Amdan

If I were to explain to you who Emden is, I would be a joker. So much so that today's society knows the meaning of the word Emden. In our childhood, the word emden was synonymous with words like supernatural, hypocrite, stonemason, cold accountant. Nowadays, there are a lot of cunning, cunning and thread-spinners, so they all fall into the category of 'Emden'. Where exactly did the word amdon come into our usage? Have you ever thought about that? Some of you probably know that story. This is an attempt to make you aware of it.

Folk tales are found in every community in the world. Also, certain sayings or proverbs are created anew with current events. The Emden story is also based on such an old incident. This is the story of its past. The SMS Emden was a German warship that underwent several controversial operations during World War I. Although the Light Cruiser belonged to this category of light attack craft, it was a craft that could very well attack enemy targets.
This new one, produced in 1908, was commissioned in 1909. Emden is a city in Germany. It had the advantage of not being able to tell if it was an enemy ship or an allied ship, and it was able to attack and destroy a number of enemy ships. The captain of the Emden ship is a real Emden.

Normally every warship in Britain at that time had four chimneys. Vessels from other countries did not have four such chimneys. What the captain of the Emden ship did was build a false chimney on his ship. Then from a distance it looks like a British ship. Taking advantage of this, Emden attacked the enemy ships. But Emdon made a mistake, just as Kottoruwa had stuck his beak in the tree. Australia's HMAS near the Cocos Islands in the Pacific Ocean. The Emden was destroyed in a battle with the Sydney ship. In 1914.

But before it was wrecked, the ship made numerous attacks using various tactics to mislead enemy ships. There have also been instances of escapees in various disguises. So there was a saying among the western nations about people who do cunning things like Emden. When it came to our country it became Emden. For almost 100 years this word has now become like a Sinhala word. Remember, Emden is used only by Sinhala speakers. (Some Tamil-speaking people) Now do you understand how all the Amandans reading this came up with the term Amandon? But if you use the word 'emden' in the international arena, the international community will not understand it. The word Emden is also less commonly used.
